Order block
The last opposite candle before price displaced and broke structure.
A bullish order block is the last down candle before a strong move up that breaks a recent high; a bearish one is the last up candle before a strong move down. ICT reads it as where large orders were placed, and expects price to respect it on a return.
How to spot it
- 1
Find a displacement that breaks a swing high or low.
- 2
Mark the last candle of the opposite colour just before that move: its body and wicks are the block.
- 3
Watch its 50% level, the mean threshold: a close beyond it weakens the block.
On a prop firm account
Order blocks on 15m or 1h give clear invalidation for a prop account. If the block is far from price, wait: chasing it usually means a wide stop that eats into your trailing drawdown.
