Getting your TopstepX trades in
- Open the trades or performance screen in TopstepX and pick the period you want — a whole month is fine.
- Export it as CSV. ProjectX-based platforms all produce the same column layout, so anything built on ProjectX works here too.
- In Propbook, go to Journal → Import and drop the file in (or paste the rows straight into the box).
- Check the preview: Propbook names the format, shows the days it found and the total P&L before saving anything.
- Pick the account it belongs to and import. Days that already exist are updated, not duplicated.
What Propbook reads from the file
| Propbook reads | Columns it looks for |
|---|---|
| The day of the trade | ExitedAt EnteredAt TradeDay ClosedAt |
| Realised P&L | PnL P&L NetPnL |
| The contract | ContractName Symbol |
Detection is automatic — you drop the file in and Propbook names the format back to you. If a column is missing or oddly named, it falls back to picking the date and P&L columns itself, and you can correct the mapping before anything is saved.
Beyond the import: the live engine
TopstepX is also the platform Propbook's PropSync connects to. One lead account, every other account mirroring it with its own size multiplier — and a drawdown guard that stops copying into an account approaching its limit instead of blowing it.
The API key you paste is encrypted server-side and only used to place the orders you configure. It is free while PropSync is in beta.
Why a prop trader needs more than the platform's own report
The TopstepX performance screen tells you what happened. It does not tell you how far your trailing drawdown has moved since, how much of today's loss limit is gone, or whether your best day has just blocked a payout — and those are the numbers that end accounts.
🛡️ Rule tracking
Trailing drawdown, daily loss, target and consistency — live, per account, with 19 firm presets.

Open Propbook →TopstepX — FAQ
Does Propbook connect to my TopstepX account automatically?
For the journal, you import the export file — nothing is connected and nothing is read from your account. PropSync is the one feature that uses an API key, and only if you set it up yourself.
Does it work with other ProjectX platforms?
Yes. ProjectX-based platforms share the same export layout, which is the layout Propbook detects. The format is named back to you in the preview so you can confirm.
Will importing twice duplicate my days?
No. An imported day replaces the same day rather than adding to it, so re-importing a longer export is safe.
Is the Topstep rule set built in?
Yes — Topstep's end-of-day trailing drawdown, daily loss limit, profit target and consistency rule are preloaded as an editable preset, along with 18 other firms.
