What actually separates them
FTMO's standard account gives 10% of maximum loss but fences each day at 5%. The5ers' presets are the mirror image: half the total room at 5%, and no daily cap at all.
That changes what a bad day can cost you. At FTMO, the worst single day is capped by rule — you cannot lose more than half your total room in one session. At The5ers, nothing stops you; the whole 5% can go in an afternoon.
The5ers also asks for a larger target relative to the room — 8% on the $100K against a 5% drawdown — which rewards traders who compound slowly and punishes anyone forcing the pace.
Which one suits you
FTMO fits you if…
You want the room to survive a bad day, and you would rather the firm ends the session for you when it goes wrong.
The5ers fits you if…
You trade small, size conservatively, and prefer no daily cap interrupting a strategy that needs several days to work out.
Not sure? Run your last twenty days through the drawdown calculator under both rule sets — the same P&L can pass one and fail the other.
Trading both? Track both.
Propbook keeps each account on its own rule set — FTMO, The5ers or seventeen others — with the room left on every one of them live. Free, no card.

Which has the bigger drawdown?
FTMO, at 10% of the account size against roughly 5% in The5ers' presets — but FTMO also caps each day at 5%, which The5ers does not.
Is a firm without a daily loss limit safer?
Not automatically. Without one, a single bad session can consume the entire drawdown. The limit that is missing from the contract has to exist in your own rules instead.
Can I track a target and a drawdown at the same time?
Yes — that is exactly what a prop-firm journal is for. Propbook shows target progress and remaining drawdown room together, so you can see when reaching for the target is what will cost you the account.
