What actually separates them
Both are static-drawdown CFD firms asking for the same 10% profit target on the shared sizes. The difference is what you are allowed to lose getting there: 10% of the account at FTMO, 8% at E8 in these presets.
That gap matters more than it looks. On a $100K account, $10,000 of room against $8,000 is two extra bad trades at a 1% risk — and most failed challenges die from a cluster of bad trades, not one.
FTMO's preset also carries a 5% daily loss limit, which caps what a single session can cost you. E8's default carries none in Propbook, so the whole 8% can go in an afternoon unless you impose your own stop.
Which one suits you
FTMO fits you if…
you want the most room, the most documented rulebook in CFD prop trading, and a daily cap that ends a bad session for you.
E8 Markets fits you if…
you are comfortable with tighter room and would rather have no daily cap interrupting a strategy that needs several sessions to play out.
Not sure? Run your last twenty days through the drawdown calculator under both rule sets — the same P&L can pass one and fail the other.
Trading both? Track both.
Propbook keeps each account on its own rule set — FTMO, E8 Markets or seventeen others — with the room left on every one of them live. Free, no card.

Which gives more room?
FTMO, at 10% of the account against roughly 8% at E8 Markets in these presets — and FTMO also caps the day at 5%.
Is a daily loss limit a good thing?
It removes your worst day from the equation. Traders who blow accounts in single sessions are safer with one; traders who hold multi-day positions sometimes find it triggers on unrealised swings.
Do both use a static drawdown?
Yes. Neither trails your equity — the loss line is set from your starting balance and stays there.
